AS A NEW PIECE OF HOMEWORK!
Attached to their Home Reading (towards the end or the beginning of their home reading) there is a page with "mots de la semaine". These are the words of the week in French that we practice orally daily. They can practice the written at home and for a challenge you can ask them what the words mean. The words will change as often as possible (every 5 or so school days), but as they change we will write the date so you can keep up. Practicing and making them accountable for these words will enhance their reading, sounds, writing and oral. Thanks :)
Reading every night!
***PLEASE NOTE*** HOME READING: We read one paragraph daily at school and then it goes home so they can read it each night (meaning that they should be reading the same paragraph twice a day for a whole week). It's the same reading for a week and then the following Monday the reading will change to a new one. They should be trying their best to be doing this reading at home at night. When you have witnessed your child do this reading, if you could initial the box on the bottom (your child will show you where) that would be fantastic. Again, thanks for your help - it's much appreciated!! :)
If you ever want anything to practice with your children at home in math - quick mental math questions are a great idea!!
Ex: If I have 15 toys, Jack has 6 toys and Emily has 3 toys…how many toys are there in total?
Simple questions like these are great to get their mental math skills going and their brain moving!
Another great thing to practice is two digit additions!!
Something else to practice in math is numbers and counting. Being able to skip count by 2, by 5 and by 10 and knowing their numbers until 100 is something we will be working on in school and continuing that practice at home would make it easier for the students!
